Koenigsegg Agera R

ADVERTISEMENTS
Koenigsegg Agera R in motor show

The Koenigsegg R was one of the stars of the Geneva show grabbing many headlines with its unusual high-speed roof-box that was proposed as an accessory. However, there was plenty of information missing about this Swedish hypercar. Up until now, that is, as the exotic carmaker came out with all the juicy details.

Starting with the performance numbers, the Agera R lives up to the company's reputation. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h [62mph] comes after just 2.9 seconds, while 0 to 200 km/h [124mph] takes only 7.5 seconds. Even more impressively, the 0-200-0 km/h [0-124mph-0] is covered in a mere 12.7 seconds, partially thanks to its ventilated carbon ceramic brakes.

The 5.0-liter V8 engine develops 1,115 horsepower at 6,900 rpm when running on E85 ethanol. However, in markets where this fuel isn't available, the Agera R can run on 95 octane petrol (940HP), or 98 octane (1,050HP). Top speed is rated at over 420 km/h (261 mph).

Koenigsegg also revealed the equipment features for the Agera R that include among others an adaptive rear wing, hydraulic lifting system, satellite navigation system, G sensor (the car can make its passengers feel up to 1.6G of lateral g-force), leather carpets and a silver key.

Koenigsegg charges extra for options such as visible carbon body, front winglets, rear view camera, heated seats, ski box roof, skis, Inconel exhaust system and winter wheel package. The pricing has not yet been announced, but the Agera is expected to cost well beyond €1,000,000 ($1,410,000). Scroll down for the full specs.

ADVERTISEMENTS
2011 Koenigsegg Super Cars Edo Competition CCR Evolution
2011 Koenigsegg Super Cars Edo Competition CCR Evolution is a car that holds the title of one of the world’s fastest car. For all these reasons, one of the German tuning company “Edo Competition” which has a reputation in making a super car is faster to make modifications in the improvement of and little change in the exterior.
2011 Koenigsegg Super Cars Edo Competition CCR Evolution
Edo Koenigsegg Super Cars CCR became one of their amazing work. Additionally there are the changes made to the interior and exterior design of the vehicle. The changes are for example contained in the wheel with a layer of charcoal paint, the presence of additional light to the CCR model, and materials throughout the cabin Alcantara on Koenigsegg’s provides a sense of more luxurious.
2011 Koenigsegg Super Cars Edo Competition CCR Evolution
Edo has managed to upgrade with the exotic, rare and unique characteristic to them. However, the most impressive aspect is still intense and violent acceleration, which is almost unparalleled, even in the field of supercars.
Since the V8 engine is being force-fed by twin superchargers, the main focus was on the setup of the two Rotrex units. With assistance from the manufacturer the drive ratio was modified and the ECU was remapped to accommodate the hardware changes. The aim was to increase the power output while maintaining a broad torque curve over the whole rev range. With the new drive ratio the engine hits its torque peak earlier and puts out up to 891 horsepower, depending on the level of tune. In order to ensure long term reliability of the superchargers, the engine redline was lowered to 7,200 rpm.
2011 Koenigsegg Super Cars Edo Competition CCR Evolution have a over haul gear transmition change to six speed gearbox transmition.it can produce rotation in just 3,700 rpm all the way up to 6,000 rpm, finely tuned directional stability beyond 300 km/h (186 mph) and a top speed that was reduced slightly from 390 km/h (242 mph) for phenomenal and significantly improved acceleration and drivability.

To make changes, Edo Koenigsegg contacted to help with a modification ratio of the drive and remapping the ECU. After focusing on the setup of the two superchargers, they ensure that they can generate maximum power while providing a wider range of torque throughout the powerband, hitting the maximum torque earlier and actually reduces the rev limiter to 7200 RPM.

The result enables a V8 engine to produce up to 891 HP now – up from standard 806 HP. The six-speed gearbox was dismantled in its entirety and replaced with plastic bushing Uniball unit. All work to enable 2011 Koenigsegg Super Cars Edo Competition CCR Evolution engine to get to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds, to 124 mph in 9.7 seconds and 186 mph in 23 seconds.
As for the exterior 2011 Koenigsegg Super Cars Edo Competition CCR Evolution, the tuner offers a new set of wheels with a layer of charcoal and paint the front end is updated with additional lights. The interior of the Koenigsegg then covered in Alcantara materials and a redesigned center console added to accommodate the new infotainment system with reverse camera and bag custom-made for a remote immobilizer.

Additional changes were made to the design of the vehicle’s interior and exterior. The wheels for example underwent a beauty treatment and received a coat of charcoal paint. The updated front with auxiliary lights now resembles the later CCR models, and the Alcantara material that was used throughout the Koenigsegg’s cabin provides a more luxurious feel. The redesigned center console now accommodates a new infotainment system including a reversing camera as well as a custom-made pouch for the immobilizer remote. For safety reasons a TPM system now informs the driver about tire pressures and temperatures. The display was integrated into the dashboard.

2012 Koenigsegg Agera R

ADVERTISEMENTS
2012 Koenigsegg Agera R

At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show Koenigsegg is presenting the brand new Koenigsegg Agera R - Quicker than lightning! The name Agera set the tone for the new project. Agera means "to take action" in Swedish. It is also short for the ancient Greek word Ageratos which means "ageless". These two are very suitable meanings, for the car building the future of Koenigsegg.

The 2012 Koenigsegg Agera is designed with the minimalistic "less is more" philosophy in mind. This philosophy means that the shape of the car has to be purely functional with no added features except those purely needed to meet regulation, added safety, ergonomics, practicality and aerodynamics. Koenigsegg believes that if this philosophy is followed, the car will also be beautiful as it is purely purposeful.

All in all the production version of the Koenigsegg Agera is created to take the Koenigsegg experience to the next level both on the road and the track, still maintaining the largest luggage space in the industry in combination with the unique Koenigsegg door system and detachable/stow-able hardtop. There are several differences between the pre-production car previously shown and the production versions. For example, the engine and gearbox configurations are different and some revolutionary interior, chassis and aerodynamic features adorn the production version of the Agera that has never been shown before.

The new car design 2012 Koenigsegg Sports Cars Agera R super speed racer car displayed in Geneva Motor Show 2011 is a very special customer, set to be delivered to its owner’s new Norwegian straight after the show closes. It is equipped with a special section with a Thule roof integrated carbon fiber ski-box containing two pairs of skis Koenigsegg.

At the 2011 Geneva Motor show, Koenigsegg presents the Koenigsegg winter package – the first lifestyle packages offered from Koenigsegg. The main element of this package is the exceptional Lightning Roof Box System. The Lightning Roof Box is developed together with the Swedish rack and roof box manufacturer Thule. The high performance lightweight box is made completely from carbon fibre and has been through several iterations of CFD simulation to ensure it is safe up to 300 km/h, making it the fastest roof box in the world.

The supercar 2012 Koenigsegg Sports Cars Agera R is built with a monocoque carbon to provide maximum rigidity and light weight; It is so structurally sound that does not require an annex roof, allowing the roof as a removable Panel which can be stored away. Koenigsegg hasn’t published performance numbers for R Agera yet, but from tires rated at 260 km/h and horse-like body structure and range as the poison Hennessey, its 0-60 mph time to be approximately 2.5 seconds and a top speed around 250 km/h on a double clutch 7.

2012 Koenigsegg Sports Cars Agera R is powered by 5.0L twin-turbo V8 making a neck snapping 1,115-hp and a maximum torque of 885 lb-ft on E85 fuel. Koenigsegg has its own engine lab, with simulation programs, rapid prototyping machines, engine and chassis dynamometers, and a 1.7 km test track adjacent the factory enabling Koenigsegg to take the cars to 0-320-0 km/h at any time. Furthermore, a 25 minute drive away from the Koenigsegg Factory there is Knutstorp Racetrack, which is described by many as a miniature Nordschleife.

The engine 2012 Koenigsegg Sports Cars Agera R are mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gear case and we’re pretty aye that cuts the 0 to 62 miles per hour time belt down to something that’s very impressive. Here Koenigsegg can put the engine and car through serious testing and make sure they work in perfect harmony. This gives Koenigsegg unique possibilities to develop technologies normally exclusive to much larger companies.

These are extraordinary numbers considering the size and reliability of the engine without forsaking drivability or flexibility. This is truly downsizing, without drawbacks. These characteristics make it one of the most flexible and easy to use hypercar engines in the world.

The 2012 Koenigsegg Sports Cars Agera R is proportionate, compact and muscular. Its timeless, efficient and distinctive shape is truly a testament to time. The original shape and concept of the Koenigsegg CC, created 15 years ago, is still valid, fresh and highly competitive today. The Agera manage to stay true to the original philosophy, shape and size of the original CC. At the same time, it looks, feels and performs like something belonging to the future.

The price of the optional 'R' package, on top of a normal $1,400,000 Agera, is $211,000 at current exchange rates, but that looks like something of a bargain compared to the $270,000 Koenigsegg charges for creating a bare carbon car.

Koenigsegg CCX (2006)
The CCX is the latest iteration of the Koenigsegg CC family. The CCX features a completely new set of body and interior parts. The new body incorporates a new front bumper design, engineered to function well in the stringent 2.5 mph bumper test, including enhanced brake cooling, fog lamps and US side position lights. The front lamps have been slightly redesigned to suit the new bumper line. The optimal ceramic 382 mm front discs are coupled to 8 piston calipers and in the rear the 362 mm size is retained with 6 piston calipers. The optional industry first carbon fiber wheels save another 3 kg per wheel compared to the already lightweight magnesium wheels that comes as standard. The ceramic discs save another 2 kg per wheel, giving the Koenigsegg CCX lower unsprung weight than any other super car.The Koenigsegg Engineers also incorporated the most powerful internal piston coolers in the industry - bringing down the piston temperature, by as much as 80% more than competing systems, which was a must in order to run high cylinder pressure with 91 octane fuel.

Switzer P800 Nissan GTR vs Koenigsegg CCR x 2 Races

ADVERTISEMENTS

Koenigsegg might be a name you have never heard of. They are a semi- obscure Swedish super car manufacturer that tried to purchase Saab in 2009 from General Motors.  However, they never carried though with the sale.
The CCR was produced from 2004-2006 by Koenigsegg, so this car is pretty rare. It was also listed as the “fastest production car” in the world, in 2005 to 2006 when the Bugatti Veyron beat it.  Power is listed as 896 hp, and weight is listed as 1180 kg (2601 lbs) dry giving it an impressive power to weight ratio.
On February 28, 2005, at 12.08 local time, the Koenigsegg CCR broke the production road car speed record, achieving a new official top speed of 387.37 km/h (240.7 mph) at hoi Italy's Nardo Prototipo proving ground. A team of five Koenigsegg engineers and mechanics together with founder Christian von Koenigsegg ran a technically standard CCR, driven by famous supercar test driver and veteran record breaker Loris Bicocchi.

In this video, from 2nd gear, the CCR clearly walks away from the Nissan GT-R at higher speeds. From the 1st gear roll, the CCR spins the tires , and then again in 2nd gear, giving the Nissan GT-R enough space to keep it out in front.  With nearly 900 hp, and more than 1000 lbs lighter than a GT-R, its suprising the CCR didn’t pull harder on the Switzer P800 GT-R.   I was just reading about a Switzer GTR 1RK 1000+hp GT-R on Nagtroc today.  Heres a sneak peak video.

2011 Koenigsegg Sports Car Agera - Celebrate 15 Years

ADVERTISEMENTS
Geneva Motor Show 2010 - The new Koenigsegg Agera. To celebrate 15 years of making dream cars, Koenigsegg unleash their latest jewel, the Koenigsegg Agera. A new supercar aimed to take the Koenigsegg experience to the next level, both on the road and the track.
2011 Koenigsegg Agera
The Agera is on display at the 80th Salon International de l’Auto in Geneva. The Agera shares some styling tweaks that are similar to the CCX and owes its name to the Swedish translation of “to act”, thus symbolizing the Koenigsegg philosophy of always improving its cars and pushing its designs to the limit.
2011 Koenigsegg Agera
Koenigsegg Agera is powered by Twin Turbo engine with 910 hp in term of running on regular petrol. Coming on to the major details, based on the regular CC, the Koenigsegg Agera boasts of a 4.7-liter twin turbocharged V8 producing 910 PS (669 kW/898 hp) at 6850 rpm and 1100 Nm (811 lb-ft) at 5100 rpm. There is over 1000 nm of torque available from 2680 to 6100 rpm.
2011 Koenigsegg Agera
To balance this, the Agera features the latest in braking technology with 392×36 and 380×34 ventilated and drilled ceramic discs. When combined with a dry weight of just 2,832 lbs and the sequential gearbox the Agera can sprint to 100 km/h in as little as 3.1 seconds, 200 km/h (124 mph) in 8.9 seconds and blast on to a top speed of 245+ mph. As well, new traction control is fitted with auto adapt functionality for different road conditions and driving styles as well as several manual settings.
2011 Koenigsegg Agera
Koenigsegg’s designers have tried to push through some difference via the slightly modified front and rear bumpers. However the car’s carbon-Kevlar body, removable top that stores into the bonnet and aluminum honeycomb reinforced carbon fiber chassis, all keep it close to the outgoing CCX.
2011 Koenigsegg Agera
The distinguishable additions are the all-new carbon fibre center console and tunnel assembly and the new type of ambient lighting called “Ghost Lights” where illumination shines through the car’s billet aluminum buttons and surfaces by way of invisible nanotubes.
2011 Koenigsegg Agera
Beside the new engine performance, Koenigsegg also features the new Koenigsegg Agera stitching and seams for Agera interior and has developed a new type of interior illumination, which shines through the billet aluminum buttons and surfaces by way of invisible nanotubes.
2011 Koenigsegg Agera
The Koenigsegg Sports Car Agera will be produced in parallel to the Award winning CCX and CCXR models. The pre-production show car will be put through its phases for the coming six month prior to the production car launch of the Agera. Pricing details have not been revealed as of now but it is being said that the supercar maker will bring a pre-production model of the Agera to the Swiss Motor Show. According to GTSpirit, just 16-20 Agera models will be built each year, starting later this year.

Koenigsegg CCR Design Sport Car Concept

ADVERTISEMENTS
Koenigsegg CCR Design Sport Car Concept

Koenigsegg's design seeks to give an interpretation of strength and flowing motion. The body of a Koenigsegg is formed for one ultimate purpose; speed. Its beauty is the beauty of speed itself. The surfaces are shaped to perfectly aerodynamic, an appearance that does not deceive. All aspects of this machine serve its one fundamental objective. Both the body and chassis of a Koenigsegg are made of extremely lightweight carbon fibre composite, reinforced with Kevlar and aluminium honeycomb. Its race-bred suspension system brings the driver in control of all movement, even under the toughest racing conditions.
The car was styled by Christian von Koenigsegg himself but its shape is largely dictated by aerodynamics. It is not as striking as Pagani or Enzo. At some angles it even looks bulky, like a big whale. But the whale delivers a sense of power that you can't find in its rivals either. Because of the targeted top speed, the body is designed to be so smooth that it has a very low drag coefficient of 0.30. This is much lower than Enzo (0.36), SLR (0.37) and Carrera GT (0.39). Unsurprisingly, the downside is a rather low downforce, just 50kg at the front and 70kg at the back. For comparison, an Enzo generates 775kg while Pagani achieves 500kg.
The chassis is constructed like other supercars. Central to it is a carbon-fiber tub (Koenigsegg called it "semi-monocoque") attached with steel subframe up front and aluminum subframe at the rear for mounting engine, gearbox and suspensions. Chassis rigidity is 28,100Nm per degree despite of the targa roof. The whole bodyshell is also carbon-fiber. Koenigsegg claims a dry weight of 1175kg, which translates to 1275kg when fluid and fuel are loaded, i.e., what we usually refer to "kerb weight". In other words, CC8S is about as light as Pagani and Saleen S7, while being around 100 kilograms lighter than Enzo and Carrera GT.
