2011 Toyota Prius

ADVERTISEMENTS
2011 Toyota Prius in blue color

I actually own a Prius and got to drive the new one for 2011, its a better drive, and some of the features like the interior are 10x better than previous models. Its not going to win races but driving from Pennsylvania to New Jersey was a breeze. Filled up my gas tank once!

In addition, the Prius will be a virtual rerun of the 2010 Toyota Prius. It’ll retain its 50-plus-mpg rating and innovative options such as a solar-powered ventilation system. The Prius represents the third-generation version of the world’s most recognizable hybrid. Following a best-selling hybrid by far. Its ahead of its time in my book.

Quick Note: The batteries last about 10 years (or I think about 80,000 to 100,000 miles not really sure on miles) and it costs around $8,000 to $10,000 to replace one. This is the most expensive thing to replace in these cars. However, if you think about it you will most likely not be keeping the car for that long with all the advances they are making. Therefore, you will most likely not ever replace the batteries.

ADVERTISEMENTS
2011 Toyota Supra in white colour

We saw the FT-HS prototype in 2007, and all Supra car enthusiasts looked at it with hope… as their beloved sport toy was withdrawn from production in 2002. Unfortunately Toyota officially stated that this project didn’t have the top priority.

Now more details are being unveiled, as the new CEO of Toyota Akio Toyoda will probably push something like this forward. The prototype looked really good, so even if they will cut half of these “too modern for the real world” design elements, it can still look interesting.

Probably it will be a hybrid, as Toyota is trying hard to be considered as “eco”. I really don’t care about the hybrid solution to be “eco”, what I do care is the extra torque, it can give the driver through the back of his seat. It is supposed to be a sports car – fun car, not some marketing / treehugging vehicle that just looks good. Fortunately for all eco sceptics, there is a good probability that non battery powered versions will be available.

2011 Toyota Sienna

ADVERTISEMENTS
2011 Toyota Sienna side view

Minivans will always be vehicles favoured by families. This type of vehicle offers the necessary storage space capacity so that the whole family can go to the preferred destination. Minivans also sport an impressive engine as this is a requirement in handling not only the body of the vehicle but also an increased number of passengers.

Space and power are the two factors that were greatly emphasized on the 2011 Toyota Sienna. Like its predecessor, the 2011 Toyota Sienna has the capability to hold up to eight passengers and the back storage is very impressive. The second line seating is even designed for a relaxing experience. This setting offers good spacing and its design is almost the same compared to the 2010 version so it still keeps a sportslike look.

What’s really impressive with the 2011 Toyota Sienna is the AWD option. This will help the driver to have better control of the vehicle which is very important for any minivan. It’s a family vehicle and any improvement of control should be considered. Under the hood, it sports a V6 engine which is another feature that should push the customer into considering this type of vehicle. Fuel economy is at 22mpg with AWD and 24mpg without the AWD.

Base price for the 2011 Toyota Sienna is $24,260 and it is already a good deal considering the capacity and power. This vehicle is easily a contender among other popular minivans in the market.

2011 Toyota Yaris

ADVERTISEMENTS
2011 Toyota Yaris front side view

The 2011 Toyota Yaris is one of a handful of models from Toyota that were recalled due to handling problems. With the reputation of Toyota, there are only two things you will expect – a perfectly working car or something that should be recalled. Fortunately, the 2011 Yaris is something that should be praised because it works well and offers something great to car owners.

The 2011 Yaris is a hatchback with very impressive mileage. It’s rate at 29mpg on city which is very impressive in its class. It can even reach up to 25mpg in an open road which pushes the boundary of an earth friendly vehicle. Of course, it comes with some disadvantages such as a lack of power but hatchbacks are built for city driving and the mileage alone is a very impressive feature.

But aside from mileage, the hatchback is built for family-type handling. The 2011 Yaris is offered in two transmission modes – the five gear manual transmission or the four gear automatic transmission. Either way, handling is a breeze in this vehicle. And because of the physical makeup of a hatchback, storing items for a long haul is not a problem.

If there’s one thing that should be criticized about the car, it is its slightly cramped seating. The seats are pushed forward so that additional space could be added in the back. But with a little bit of adjustment, this should not be a problem. Another concern is that the base price ($13,655 - $14,415) comes with very basic amenities and add-ons could be costly.

2012 Toyota Camry Solara

ADVERTISEMENTS
2012 Toyota Camry Solara front view

You'll appreciate Solara's precise handling and effortless ride. And with the 2012 Toyota Camry Solara convertible, you'll look great doing it, wherever you go. Both the Solara and the Solara convertible are available in SE and SLE V-6 models, making the combinations virtually limitless.

The 2012 Toyota Camry Solara is available as a midsize coupe that seats 5 or convertible that seats 4. Both Solara styles are available in three models, SE, Sport and SLE. The fuel economy ratings of the Toyota Solara model powered by a four cylinder engine are 21 miles per gallon on city streets and 31 miles per gallon highway, while that of the V6 engine powered model are 18 miles per gallon on city streets and 26 miles per gallon highway for the coupe and 18 miles per gallon on city streets and 27 miles per gallon for the convertible highway.

All 2012 Solara models are equipped with air conditioning, powered windows/locks/mirrors, an AM/FM/CD/MP3 music system, leather seats, 17 inch tires, a cruise control system and a sun roof.

The 2012 "Toyota Camry" is the best car for you if you want the all-new version of a family-car icon.

The 2012 Toyota Camry will be the first fully redesigned Camry since model-year 2007. The redesigned 2012 model kicks off the seventh design generation of the Camry, a car that’s parlayed deceptively ordinary design into extraordinarily wide appeal.

Should you wait for the 2012 Toyota Camry or buy a 2011 Toyota Camry? Waiting for the 2012 Camry means your car’s styling will look current for several years, and it’ll be worth more at resale than the outgoing 2011 Camry. The 2011 Camry still is an outstanding family sedan. : For a preview of the 2012 Toyota Camry styling, look to themes evident on the Toyota Venza and the re-engineered 2011 Toyota Avalon. Venza is Toyota’s new-age crossover wagon. Avalon is essentially a stretched version of the Camry sedan. Both have design roots in Toyota’s midsize-car architecture. Look for the 2012 Camry to get some trendy “light-pipe” detail illumination front and rear. The "2012 Camry" probably will be slightly wider than the outgoing model. Toyota is, however, apt to stretch the 2012 Camry’s wheelbase. Camry is honed to achieve an impressive level of refinement. The 2012 Camry will retain front-wheel drive, which concentrates the mass of the engine and transmission in the nose of the car.

Front-wheel drive seldom matches the handling balance of rear-wheel drive. But Camry’s aim is a predictable, easy-to-drive nature. Under the hood, expect Toyota to replace the outgoing Camry’s 169-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder with the notably stronger 2.7-liter four already available in the Venza; there, it’s rated at 182 horsepower. The possibility of a 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid is an open question. All 2012 Camrys will come equipped with Toyota’s latest safety features. Also in place for the 2012 Camry will be Toyota’s new Star Safety System. Features: Expect the 2012 Toyota Camry to continue with the sort of model range that’s so effectively penetrated most every layer of the midsize-car firmament. It should again begin with an equivalent of the 2011 Camry’s CE model, which Toyota occasionally refers to as the “Standard” or “base” Camry.

Standard features on every" 2012 Toyota Camry" will include air conditioning, height-adjustable driver’s seat, tilt/telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, cruise control, and power windows, locks, and mirrors. That sort of connectivity is increasingly standard in Camry’s competitive set and has been available but not standard on all Camry models.

2012 Toyota Camry Prices

Pricing for the 2012 Toyota Camry won’t be announced until shortly before the car goes on sale, but a base price range of around $20,300-$29,900 is almost guaranteed. For 2011 Toyota cars, that fee is $750. In general, the 2012 Camry CE model should start around $21,400 with automatic transmission. Estimated base price for the 2012 Toyota Camry LE with the four-cylinder engine is around $22,000 with manual transmission, around $23,000 with automatic. The 2012 Camry LE with the V-6 engine would likely be priced from around $25,700 and come only with automatic transmission.

Toyota has wisely enabled buyers to purchase the top-line Camry model with the four-cylinder engine. That ought to continue, with the 2012 Camry XLE starting around $27,000. Leather upholstery as a standard features has been exclusive to the XLE V-6 Camry. If a gas-electric model is again part of the lineup, look for 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid prices to start around $27,500.

The 2011 Camry with both the 169- and 179-horsepower versions of the four-cylinder engine was among the highest-mileage midsize cars, with EPA ratings of 22/33 mpg (city/highway) for manual transmission, 22/32 with the automatic.

Even if Toyota gives the 2012 Camry the 2.7-liter four-cylinder, these ratings should hold or even climb by a mile-per-gallon or two. In turn, expect the 2012 Toyota Camry with the 3.5-liter V-6 to benefit from similar upgrades given the latest versions of this engine. Toyota continues to use the 2011 Camry Hybrid’s powertrain in the $35,000 Lexus HS250h, which was introduced for model-year 2010 and is advertised as America’s first hybrid-only luxury car. If a 2012 Camry Hybrid returns with a similar setup, look for EPA ratings of at least 33/34 mpg.

2011 Toyota Venza

ADVERTISEMENTS
2011 Toyota Venza in park

The 2011 Toyota Venza is a true crossover: it gives a car-like ride and SUV-like space. No matter what you call the Venza, reviewers are impressed with it.

It’s an SUV! It’s a 2011 Toyota Venza: riding on the same platform as the Toyota Camry, the Venza drives like a car but has the space of an SUV. "Truth be told, the Venza makes the average SUV look like yesterday's news," says Automobile Magazine. Reviewers like the Venza for how comfortable and useful it is. On the road, the Venza is smooth and comfortable – something many family car buyers appreciate. While it’s expensive for a wagon, the Venza is fairly affordable for an SUV. The Venza competes closely with the 2011 Ford Edge.

The Toyota Venza is unchanged for 2011.

It's a wagon. It's a crossover. The 2011 Toyota Venza is a strange creation, one rife with contradictions and difficult to properly define. Unlike with most midsize crossovers, the Venza features a four-cylinder base engine. In the front cabin, the Venza is filled with a variety of innovative storage solutions. The Venza's rear seat doesn't slide, it's not split three ways and there's no option for a third row.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2011 Toyota Venza is a five-passenger wagon available in two trim levels, which correspond to its two engines. The four-cylinder Venza comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlamps, foglamps, privacy glass, a power tailgate, keyless entry, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver seat (includes power lumbar), a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a large color trip computer display, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio and an iPod/USB audio interface. The Venza V6 adds 20-inch wheels along with its bigger engine.

Mostly grouped into packages, options include a rearview camera, a panoramic sunroof, xenon headlamps with automatic high beams, keyless ignition/entry, a four-way power passenger seat, heated front seats, leather upholstery, leather-wrapped wheel and shift knob and a 13-speaker JBL surround-sound audio system with a six-CD changer. The 2011 Toyota Venza is available with a four- or six-cylinder engine and can be had in either front- or all-wheel drive. In Edmunds performance testing, a four-cylinder, front-drive Venza went from zero to 60 mph in 9.3 seconds -- an average time compared to similarly powered crossovers. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 21 mpg city/27 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 20/25/22 with all-wheel drive.

Safety

Every 2011 Toyota Venza comes standard with four-wheel antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag and front-seat active head restraints. In Edmunds brake testing, the Venza came to a stop from 60 mph in 122 feet regardless of engine.

The Venza has not been rated using the government's new, more strenuous 2011 crash-testing procedures.

Interior Design and Special Features

The 2011 Venza doesn't quite exhibit the top-notch interior quality of past Toyota models, but it is a tad nicer than its current Camry stablemate. Although it lacks a third-row seat, the Venza provides loads of passenger space, particularly in the rear, which features reclining seatbacks.

In Toyota's well-stocked lineup, the 2011 Toyota Venza slots in between the base five-seat RAV4 and the more bloated Highlander seven-seater; while the RAV4 and Venza have three rows of seating, the Venza has two rows and seats five.

The 268-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 gives the Venza a smoother, stronger character, but fuel economy is the penalty. In repeat drives, editors have found the Venza's driving experience to be adequate but numb and uninspiring. In Toyota's well-stocked lineup, the 2010 Toyota Venza slots in between the base five-seat RAV4 and the more bloated Highlander seven-seater. The tall roofline allows a rather high, upright driving position and plenty of headroom. Overall, the Venza goes down the road with a certain isolation that pleases riders, not drivers. Highlights from the options list include leather upholstery, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, a power liftgate, a Smart Key system with push-button start, leather trim, a cargo mat, and all sorts of pet-friendly accessories. The available, top-of-the-line JBL premium audio system is impressive sounding, and also earns Bluetooth audio streaming.

This underlines the fact that Toyota iQ is more than just a city runabout, giving a strong, stable and enjoyable drive at motorway speeds. Nought to 62mph can be achieved in 11.8 seconds (11.6 with Multidrive) and top speed is 106mph. The engine develops a maximum 98bhp at 6,000rpm and peak torque of 125Nm at 4,400rpm.

This achievement is not at the expense of performance. Equipped with Toyota's new Multidrive CVT system, fuel economy is just as good, while emissions rise slightly to 120g/km, but remain within Band B. With manual transmission, Toyota iQ3 returns an official 58.9mpg in combined cycle driving, and 113g/km of CO2 - Band B for road tax (£35 annual charge) - both of which are best-in-class figures. The headline figures broadcast the exceptional customer benefits in terms of running costs.

Benefiting from Toyota Optimal Drive technology for a class-leading combination of power, fuel economy and low emissions, it uses Dual VVT-i control of both intake and exhaust valves to deliver strong torque at low to medium engine speeds and achieve maximum efficiency. Toyota RAV4 Short Review

ADVERTISEMENTS
Toyota RAV4 (2011)

Instantly identifying it as the latest addition to the Toyota family, the Toyota RAV4 features a new, more sophisticated, chromeaccented front design, emphasising the vehicle's wide track and stable stance. Making its European debut at this year's Geneva motor show, the new, expanded Toyota RAV4 model range fulfils each of these demands while sacrificing none of the core values of Toyota's compact SUV. Rather, they place more emphasis on distinctive, sophisticated styling, premium quality interior design and fuel efficient, environmentally-friendly performance combined with an engaging driving experience. These customers still value the high driving position, interior roominess, versatility and sense of security a compact SUV provides, but have less requirement for 4WD.

Though the compact SUV share of the European market has remained steady at just below 5% of total vehicle sales, the segment has recently attracted a new group of customers for whom an SUV purchase represents a more emotional than rational proposition.  Since the first generation of Toyota RAV4 (Recreational Active Vehicle with 4 Wheel-Drive) was launched in Europe in 1994, over one million customers have come to appreciate its compactness, manoeuvrability and versatility, allied to the dependability of the most advanced four-wheel drive system in the segment.

The Special Edition Innova will be available only in one shade, which the company calls Premium Super White. Priced at Rs 8,86,960 (ex-showroom, Delhi), it comes with features like power steering, power windows, power locks and air conditioning.

Body colored bumpers and grill are standard, although grab handles and side mirrors come in a shade of black. Since this is a Special Editon model, production is restricted to only 700 units.

Toyota had launched the Innova in 2005 that replaced the Qualis, which was again a best seller for the company. Innova leads the segment with close to 31% market share since its launch. It is Toyota’s smallest offering in its lineup of MUV/SUV’s for the Indian market, others being the Fortuner, Land Cruiser Prado and Land Cruiser Amazon.

Toyota Winglet

ADVERTISEMENTS
Toyota Motor showed off a new stand-up scooter that could one day be seen zipping alongside the Segway on the personal-transporter superhighway.
The "Winglet" has a body the size of an A3 sheet of paper that houses an electric motor, two wheels, and internal sensors that constantly monitor the rider's position and make adjustments in power to ensure stability.
A parallel link mechanism lets riders go forward, backward, and turn by shifting body weight, making the Winglet potentially useful for maneuvering in tight spaces or crowded urban environments.
Riders can cruise around at a leisurely 3.7 mph--not ideal for rushing to a meeting, but nice for scooting around a shopping mall, perhaps. (The Segway, by comparison, can hit 12.5 mph.)
The Winglet comes in small, medium, and large sizes ranging in height from 18 inches to 3 feet 8 inches, with handlebars that also rise to different levels. All three models are about 18 inches wide and 10 inches long. The smallest version weighs 22 pounds, and can be folded and tossed into a (big) bag for optimal shoulder dislocation. All versions of the device take an hour to charge.
No word yet on when we might see commuters atop the contraptions. The company will start testing the vehicle this fall at a Japanese airport and a seaside resort. More testing is planned for 2009 at shopping complexes and other bustling locales.
